Who is responsible for your data?

This website is operated by Paul & Donna Newman at Moulin du Couesnon, 202 Rue du Couesnon, Val Couesnon, 35560, Brittany, France. We are responsible for personal data used to operate the website and answer enquiries.

For privacy questions or to exercise your rights, email info@moulinducouesnon.com. Website: moulinducouesnon.com.

What we collect and why

  • Enquiries: if you email or telephone us, we receive the contact details and information you choose to provide. We use them to reply and manage the enquiry. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in communicating with visitors, or steps requested by you before entering a contract where relevant.
  • Website operation and security: our hosting and technical service providers may process IP addresses, browser/device details, requested pages and technical logs to deliver content, prevent abuse and maintain the site. This is based on our legitimate interest in operating a secure, reliable website.
  • Optional services: YouTube video embeds, Google translation and visitor statistics use consent where required for cookies and similar technologies. You can refuse them and still browse the main website.
  • Site administrators: WordPress processes administrator account information and login cookies to provide and secure authorised access.

The current main pages do not provide public account registration, a checkout or a public comments form. Contacting us is voluntary; without contact details we may be unable to reply. Please avoid sending sensitive personal information that is not needed for your enquiry.

Cookies and your choices

Necessary cookies support website administration, security and remembering your privacy choice. Optional categories are Statistics and Experience. Statistics covers Jetpack/Automattic analytics and Google Analytics if configured. Experience covers YouTube videos and Google translation.

You can choose Accept all, Refuse all or Settings. Optional categories are not authorised simply by browsing. Your choice is stored in the cookies_and_content_security_policy cookie for 180 days. To withdraw or change your choice, use Cookie settings in this page or the website footer. Changing choices reloads the page where needed to apply the resource restrictions.

WordPress login cookies normally last two days, or two weeks if an administrator selects Remember Me; display preferences normally last one year. These concern authorised users rather than ordinary visitors. Third-party cookie names and lifetimes can vary with the service and your provider account settings; see the linked provider notices below. Your browser also lets you inspect or delete cookies.

YouTube, translation and external links

Our videos are hosted by YouTube, a Google service. Embedded players use privacy-enhanced mode where available. Loading a player can disclose your IP address and browser information to Google; playing a video can involve cookies and additional processing, particularly if you are signed into Google. Privacy-enhanced mode does not make an embed anonymous or remove the need for consent where applicable.

GTranslate provides optional Google translation. When used, Google may receive technical information and page content needed to translate the site. Social media and Chateau DIY links take you to separate websites whose own notices apply. A plain link does not itself embed their tracking tools.

Providers and recipients

Access is limited to the site operators, authorised administrators and providers supporting the relevant service. The website is hosted through Bluehost. WordPress/Elementor provide the site software. Jetpack/Automattic provide services including image and static-file delivery, security, backups and optional statistics. Images and some site files are delivered from WordPress.com domains. Google provides optional YouTube and translation services. The main website pages now use built-in or locally hosted fonts, avoiding external Google font requests.

Visitor statistics on the current public pages are provided by Jetpack/Automattic when the Statistics category is accepted. We do not sell enquiry contact details or use them to add you to marketing lists without an appropriate separate choice.

Provider notices: Bluehost, Automattic / Jetpack, Google / YouTube, and GTranslate.

International processing

Some providers process data outside France and the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Their notices explain the locations and transfer mechanisms they rely on, such as applicable adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses. Contact us for information about the safeguards relevant to data we hold.

How long information is kept

Retention is determined by the purpose: correspondence is kept while needed to answer and follow up an enquiry, manage an ongoing relationship or establish, exercise or defend legal claims. Records subject to a legal retention requirement are kept for that requirement. Technical logs, backups and optional analytics have provider-specific retention settings and deletion cycles. Consent preferences are remembered for 180 days.

You can contact us to ask about the retention period applying to your information or request deletion where applicable.

Your rights under GDPR / RGPD

Depending on the processing and legal basis, you can request access, correction, erasure, restriction and portability of your personal data. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests and withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing that was lawful before withdrawal. You can give instructions concerning your personal data after death where French law provides for this.

Send requests to info@moulinducouesnon.com. We may ask for proportionate information to verify your identity. The usual response period is one month; permitted extensions must be explained. You may complain to the French authority, the CNIL, or the relevant authority where you live or work. We do not use visitor enquiry data for automated decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects.

Security and updates

The website uses HTTPS. Protecting data also depends on appropriate access controls, software maintenance and the practices of our service providers. No website can guarantee absolute security. We update this notice when the site’s processing changes. Last updated: 10 October 2026.
